Ladder Ranking

The site uses two ranking systems, Traditional Ladder and Points. These two systems work side by side, so when scores are entered both ladder rankings and points will be assigned to each player based on the score. Members will then be able to see their Ladder positions sorted by either Ladder Rank or Points.

The ladder administrator will also be able to set a 'Preferred Ranking System' parameter to either 'Ladder Rank' or 'Points' which will indicate the Ranking system by which a winner will be decided. That is not to say that winners couldn't be both decided on Points and Ladder Rank!

Traditional Ladder Ranking If the winner is of lower rank than his opponent, he will move up to his opponents rank and the opponent and all players in-between move down one position. If the winner is of higher rank than his opponent, no rank changes will be made.

Points Ranking It is expected that the points system will be used for teams wishing to score on a league basis where each player plays every other a fixed number of times. However using this system on a traditional ladder can be fun, as it 'rewards' players who play a lot of games as well as just winners!

The points awarded for each score are as follows:

Score Points
3 - 0 4 - 1
3 - 1 4 - 2
3 - 2 4 - 3
2 - 0 3 - 1
2 - 1 3 - 2
2 - 2 3 - 3
1 - 0 2 - 1
1 - 1 2 - 2

Entering Results

Once you have played a game, decide who is going to enter the result then go to menu option "Enter Results". From here select the date the game was played and the Ladder on which the game was played (note, only 'Open' ladders will appear in this list). Select your opponent from the list, the list shows all members of the selected ladder (note, you can only enter results for games played against other members of the ladder who are registered which Squash-Ladder.com).

When entering game scores there are a few rules that must be followed; you must always enter a score for the first game and any one player can only have a maximum of three winning games. The highest score wins each game, this covers all variants of traditional and PARS scoring systems.

Finally you can enter any notes/comments about the game, then click "Enter" to save the results.

Viewing and Amending Results

Select "Games Played" under "Matches" on the Navigation menu, this will take you to your "Member Profile" page where your name and contact details can be found and games for all ladders viewed.

How to view games played: Select the ladder for the results you wish to view and click "Refresh", you can also view the notes for each game by checking the "Show Notes" box before clicking "Refresh".

How to Amend a result: Select the Ladder for the game you wish to amend and click "Refresh". Only the person who entered the match results will be able to amend it, all games you entered will have the "Date Played" column highlighted, click the date and you will be taken to the "Amend Match Results" page. If you wish to Amend the scores then change the details and click "Update", if you wish to Delete the game click "Delete".

How Amending a result will affect the rankings: The way this works with regards to points and ladder ranking is as follows; if the game is deleted or changed, the game points are removed or amended as necessary. No ladder rankings will be changed unless this was the last game to be added on the ladder, in which case the ranking changes will be rolled-back to where they were before the game was entered.
